We made it- after a long, long drive, we finally made it to Houston last Thursday. Here's a recap of our trip.
Monday-
*Packed the U-Haul. Thanks to our amazing ward we had it all packed in about an hour. *Cleaned- I completely underestimated the time it would take to clean the apartment. Thankfully, we have the world's most amazing friends. Thanks Jimi and Bre for your help! Also thanks to Rachel and Shaun, Amy, Nick and Diana, Cathy (and Kylie), Tommy and Alyse, Curtis...am I missing anyone? If I am I'm sorry- you were all lifesavers!
*After pushing back our cleaning check till 9:30 we spent the night at Nick and Diana's and stayed up way to late (it was fun though!)
Tuesday-
*met up with Amy for one last breakfast at Kneaders...all you can eat french toast! Said goodbye at 7:45 and we were on the road.
*Go at a snail's pace through Spanish Fork...we hate construction.
*stop for gas and realize we're going to average about 8.5 mpg. We now have to up our gas budget
*feed Nathan 3 times. For a slow eater this became an actual ordeal. Never again will I travel with a baby in a moving van- never ever.
*get to Albuquerque at 9 pm, eat some amazing chicken- thank you Linda and Aaron!
Wednesday-
*leave for Dallas at 8--turns out the drive from Albuquerque to Dallas is one of the ugliest, most boring stretches of land on earth. Go figure we have to do this with limited air conditioning (lowers our already low gas mileage), and no music (only am/fm, which does not work very well)
*once again, feed Nathan 3 times, still horrible
*arrive in Dallas at 9, get set up at Christine's house (thanks!), eat, talk, and sleep.
Thursday-
*leave Dallas at 9, think we're lost for about 20 minutes but realize we're just fine (thanks Dad for the help)
*I realize I will literally die because of the heat...it's hot!
*Get to Houston at 1!!!!! Sign all the papers for our apartment, then realize I packed the check book, so we drive around Houston looking for wells Fargo with only on Chris's memory from his interview
*Get the keys to our apartment at 2:30!!!!!
*See our place and realize the electricity doesn't work. I start to cry; Nathan cries; I am sweating, Nathan is sweating; Chris tries to find out the problem- what a great man. Our electricity finally works due to Chris being so smart and finding our breaker box and meter and flipping on the main breaker (darn the apartment complex for turning it off without telling anyone). I try to feed Nathan who begins to have the worst day of his entire life. Crying for 3 hours straight.
*Our wonderful ward helps us move in- they got everything in our 2nd floor apartment, including the piano in about an hour in the sweltering heat- they are wonderful!
*we finally sit down and relaxed at 7:30...what a long trip.
more details about our place coming soon!

I'm glad you had a safe trip, despite the heat and terribleness of feeding a baby in that heat. Way to go you guys! Your Texas adventure has begun!! I can't wait to see pics of your new place.
Crucial - I don't envy you one bit! Nathan cried for three hours straight? You poor thing, I don't know how I would handle that (knock on wood)! Glad you made it there safely.
I am so glad you made it and the long trip is over! Yikes! It sounds like you have a nice ward there. I am glad for that.
we miss yall!
Glad you made it safely. Not glad you mentioned Kneader's french toast because now I'm craving it and I'm on the other side of the country.
