Life as we know it

So I'm totally bored sitting here at work today- there really isn't enough for me to do some days. Things did get really exciting when the power went out and we could legitimately do nothing instead of me just pretending I am busy. However, this lack of nothing to do has been a blessing...I get more stuff done at work than at home like checking our bank accounts, looking up how to switch addresses with the electric company, checking my email an absurd amount of times, facebook, CNN, and many other things to take up my time.

So here is an update of our lives...
Today I have been keeping busy because I'm reading US History for Dummies- that is correct- after 4 years of a University education, my teaching career can only come to fruition if I pass a test where the best study guide is a history book for dummies...wonderful. The book is actually really funny- I'm only into the 3rd chapter and I'm really enjoying it, at least the guy who wrote it has a sense of humor! I can't wait to read World History for Dummies once I finish, then I will be officially ready for the Praxis Exam!
I also got a wonderful call today from Dixon Middle School; they finally finished class scheduling for next year and I am teaching US History and Utah Studies, and during the second semester I'll also teach a Mock Trial Class- I'm so excited! I can't wait to actually get into my classroom and start teaching- it is such a great (and terrifying) feeling! Chris and I have also determined (once again) that we love Kneaders. Chris bought a sandwich for us to split for lunch today (I'm working a full day) and it was so good! I have a minor addiction to good bread and they have really good bread there so I was happy!
We both can't wait for finals to be over (Chris because then he will be done with OChem, and me because then Chris will be done with OChem!). He has both his Ochem and physics finals tomorrow, so we're exited for tomorrow night when the madness is over for just a few days. Summer term should be easier, he'll have less intensive classes, but it still stinks we have no time for a vacation (I start school a few days after he finishes summer term). We decided that instead of taking a big trip we're going to take little trips around Utah. We hoping to go to Timpanogos Caves on Friday, so that should be fun. We are also trying to go camping (maybe 4th of July weekend?) but we realized we only have 1 sleeping bag, a lantern, and a small cooler--apparently we're not very good at getting camping equipment!
Our new apartment is working out really well for us- we've come to live without the dishwasher, and we're now really good at hand washing everything. Even when we had a family over for dinner for Father's Day we were able to get everything cleaned up really quickly. Speaking of father's day- we made our first cheesecake. It turned out so good (a little over cooked but not really...) We were pretty impressed. Chris is staying busy at work. We're super excited for minimum wage to go up because that's an automatic raise! The physical therapy place he works for is pretty cheap, but it's good work experience for grad school, so there's not much else to do except pray we'll make ends meet.
That's pretty much life right now, lots of fun and a little boring, but we enjoy it!

Sarah! We have TONS of camping stuff if you want to borrow anything for camping trips! We have two tents, two camping chairs, a lantern, camping stoves, etc. All kinds of stuff!! Just let me know if you ever want to borrow anything! Also, is Chris planning on going in Physical Therapy? Where does he work? Richard is looking for volunteer/work stuff to start come fall or winter semester. He needs experience for grad school. Anyways, talk to you later!

I'd just like to say that I know exactly how you feel about being excited and nervous about teaching school. I'm surprised they haven't let you in the classroom yet! That's one of the most exciting pre-school activities...getting your room set up. Wahoo! Good luck on the praxis!
