Christmas Eve (ir)Reverence

It all began with Chris asking about my family's Christmas traditions. What resulted was irreverent, possibly sacrilegious, definitely historically inaccurate, but positively hilarious.

Every Christmas Eve my Dad reads the story of Jesus Christ's birth. When we were younger, all of us kids acted it out. Due to unfortunate birth order and ages, I grew up dreaming of one day being Mary (when I was small Rachel was always Mary, and as I got older and believed that it was my turn the role was passed on to Liz and Becky...(not fair!). So out of pity for me, (and the fact that I had a husband and baby boy, but mostly pity), this year I finally landed my dream role.

So we all got dressed up, and let the craziness begin!

It started fairly normal
aren't we the cutest little family e.v.e.r!
Going to Bethlehem (I'm pretty sure this is how Joseph rode in)Angel announcing the birth
The shepherds praising the baby (Lion King-style)the gifts of the wise man
Liz- "if the wise men had been women they would have brought diapers and wipes"
Liz and Becky (the Angel and the Wise woMan)
Grandpa and Peggy (the not so nimble, slightly sarcastic shepherds)
Chris (disco Joseph)
Sarah ("forgot to be pregnant so hurry and grab a pillow before Dad reads that Jesus is born" Mary)
and the cutest baby Jesus
the whole cast

Mom- camera woman

If I have time someday I'll try to upload the video of this whole thing...it's long but definitely worth it :)

It looks like tons of fun, and knowing your family, I bet the nativity was awesome and as hilarious as you say it was! It made me smile just reading about it and seeing the pictures. Happy New Year! (and this is Karen...not Merrill.)
