D.C. Fun

We spent a bitter cold day in D.C. at the National Archives and the US History Museum. We made it to the metro only to go up the escalator and watch our train fly by...the lame sign told us we still had 2 minutes. So we finally got on a train, only to get separated because of all the people coming on and having a stroller. So Nathan and I talked to a nice lady who had a baby just a week older than Nathan while Chris had to fight of all sorts of characters for stroller space.

We made it to the Archives and stood outside in line for about 30 minutes..burr! Thankfully Nathan fell asleep and Chris was able to hold him and keep him nice and warm.

Also, some nice old volunteer man let us cut in front of everyone and go straight into the Rotunda (cut about an hour or more off our waiting time). I had been there before, but Chris hadn't. It was great seeing the founding documents of our country- it reminded me a lot of teaching last year and trying to help my students understand the importance of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.

We then saw some more things on display including:

The Articles of Confederation (our government before the Constitution)

President Taft's bathtub
only president (that we know of) to get stuck in the tub :)

and one of Shaq's shoes
they're really big

I thought Chris was using the flash...and that's a big No-No in the archives. I'm all about following the rules
This is how we walked around the "Public Vaults" Nathan kept trying to get the wheels of the stroller. It was nice to not carry him or have him squirm in the stroller...and he used up a lot of energy (and fell asleep soon after...nice)

We then headed over to the US History Museum, met up with Emily and Scott, ate lunch, and walked around a little bit (we didn't take any pictures...whoops)
After we hopped back on the Metro where I ended up giving Nathan chocolate so he would stop trying to grab some lady's rear end...it was funny.

How fun! I laughed so hard at your "no flash picture". Nick and I were in the Getty in LA once and he used the flash on a VAN GOGH! I was mortified, and I had the exact same expression on my face! Nathan is getting so big! We hope you are all well.

I love all these posts! Your expression in the "flash" picture is priceless.

If looks could kill.
