So far we've had a pretty relaxing time. Nathan has really enjoyed having his cousin Miriam (just 3 months older) around. They have become best buds even though they are complete opposites- Miriam is super sweet, organized, clean, dainty, loves rainbows and stickers..she's all girl. Nathan is crazy, destructive, messy, and loves cars and balls...all boy. It is fun to see Miriam tell Nathan what to do and actually have him follow! It's hilarious! They love to sit outside on the deck and watch airplanes with grandpa and run around the house chasing each other with grandma.
On Monday we had fun at the park with my friend Rebekah and her adorable son James. He is just 2 months younger than Nathan, so seeing him, Miriam, and Nathan play together was fun.
On Monday night Nathan had a blast going to watch Becky play in her powder puff football game. Nathan was absolutely fascinated the entire time...he hardly spoke or moved a muscle because he was so focused on the "futball." Unfortunately the Juniors lost, but we had fun watching Becky play.
Yesterday I finally started working on Nathan's Halloween costume- I hope it turns out like I've imagined it! We also did a little bit of shopping :) It's always fun to get new clothes! We then went over to the high school to see the volleyball game (I played in high school). It was fun to see the school and show Nathan pictures of me on the wall...even though even though all he wanted to look at was the pictures of football players. He liked watching the game and cheering with the crowd. He got to bed really late and slept in just a little bit this morning- wonderful!
Chris has had a rough time since we left...he got out late from his orientation on Monday making him wait till after rush hour to leave. He got about 2 hours outside of Houston on a smaller, dark, uneven road when he got a flat tire (not the tire that is already leaking air...). He called me to let me know and started to change the tire. It turns out the bolts were screwed on super tight so it took him a while to loosen them (tearing up his hands...he sent me a picture of them and they were all red and raw...thankfully this happened to him not me because he said he's positive I would not have been able to unscrew the bolts at all...). A cop came around and told him there was a gas station close by so Chris drove really slowly on the grass to get there...it was well lit and level ground so it helped speed up the process. He finally got the tire changed and made it to Tyler around 12:30. The next morning the wonderful family he is staying with this week showed him where to get the tire fixed and they were able to patch up both tires for $20! We were worried we would have to buy 2 new tires (with money we don't have!) so that was a huge blessing. He made it to the hospital after lunch, did all the introductions and orientations and was able to help with two surgeries that afternoon. He had a blast- he really liked it a lot. He is going to stay super busy...he's at the hospital by 6 am and will be getting home around 6 or so at night, and then has to study, so he doesn't have much time to miss us!

I might have to come down to VA and visit!! Chase starts is OBGYN rotation next week, so I'm sure I'll be making a few trips down to VA myself during that time!! If I do, I'd love to get together with you all!
