Bet You Can't Top This

Mother's Day was fun.

To celebrate it appropriately both kids got up at 5:45- gosh my kids just really wanted some quality time with me! After feeding Abby, Nathan was starving...and I was too, so we pulled out the cereal- I didn't want the amazing breakfast Chris had planned any ways.
After breakfast and playing Abby took a nap and Chris took Nathan on a walk so I could take a little nap (at 8:30).Since I actually didn't want to sleep it was good that Abby woke up after 30 minutes, so I ironed all of our Sunday clothes instead- much better than a nap that's for sure.
Nathan fell asleep in the car on the way to church and slept just long enough to think he wouldn't need another nap all day. He was crazy during church, so cute, little, beautiful, small, non-crazy, non-crying, calm Abby fell asleep in Chris's arms leaving me with Nathan. He pooed during Nursery and since I really missed him I'm glad they came and found me in Young Women's to change him.
Since we were having such an enjoyable day it was awesome that Nathan didn't take a nap.  We spent the whole afternoon telling him he couldn't watch tv- awesome! Nothing says Happy Mother's Day like non-stop whining...I love whining! We talked to my family on Skype- Nathan was upset that there were no horses on the computer (he's been a big fan of watching the Kentucky Derby over and over and over...).  My parents didn't want to see him either.
We took a little walk over to the pool to put our feet it, but what would Mothers Day be without Nathan jumping in the pool with his clothes on? So much better than just putting your feet in.
We then realized that we were missing a very vital ingredient for dinner...and since I didn't want a nice dinner that was just fine.  Last minute BLTs and frozen french fries are a real special treat too. Abby decided that she was missing out on dinner so Chris held her the whole time and didn't even eat, good thing he wasn't hungry.
We then attempted to talk to Chris's parents on Skype, but since that would just be too nice of a thing to do Nathan decided that he needed to throw a fit the whole time. So off to bed he went.  Abby fell asleep about 5 minutes later and we put her down for the night.  It was 7:30.
Chris finally got dinner around 7:45 and while cleaning, a glass of water spilled all over the mother's day gifts and cards I haven't sent to our mothers yet- by the way, I'm starting a Mother's Week, not just a Mother's Day- no need for the cards and presents to be there on one specific day, a whole week (or more) of anticipation is much more exciting.
We then had some new friends come over to use our internet (they just moved to our complex and don't have it yet) so I made a delicious dessert to share, she hardly ate any while I ate a double man size portion- I didn't make me feel fat at all- It had just been that great of a day and I love eating like a man in front of people you don't really know...

So, Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful women- hope your day was a little better than ours! I told Chris that we can try Mother's Day again next week...maybe it will be a little better!

...and last night Chris said the only way this day could get worse was if we got food poisoning...and this morning he woke up sick.

Oh Sarah, I had about the same kind of day. It makes me feel so much better to know that I'm not the only one who didn't have perfect kids on Mother's day. :) At least they are worth it right? :D

Oh no! I'm sorry! My mom says that kids are always the worst on Mother's Day, it's like they know we're trying to steal just one day for ourselves:) I hope you have a better Mother's Week! And don't worry, I ate a man-sized dessert last night too!

Ugh, I'm so sorry. They were just trying to make you really appreciate all the other good days throughout the year. Also, I always have the biggest portion of dessert. It makes me happy so that's that.

Hopefully your kids will give you a fantastic mothers day next year! In my defense about the dessert, I had told you I just ate a huge meal and wanted just a small portion :). I honestly didn't notice how much you ate, I felt bad myself because I couldn't finish mine!
