This past week I taught Nathan's little preschool about the letter K and the number 9.
I really need to be better about planning it earlier than 10:00 the night before- semi okay ideas become the basis for the day and some projects turn out a little white trashy, but the kids have fun so that's what counts right?
We started off by talking about K- what it looks like, sounds like... and all the words that start with K- poor kids were so confused when I had to explain that car, cookie, and candy didn't start with k...how do you teach them them difference?
They colored their kite pictures
then went on a K scavenger hunt- I "hid" a whole bunch of letter k's around the house and they had a blast running and trying to find them.
We then made K's out of Kit Kat's- they were all fascinated that there were 2 K's on the chocolate...didn't realize that would be so cool!
We then practiced counting using sKittles (kind of a stretch for the letter k, but made for some fun counting!)
While they were eating the skittles they made special kisses to give their moms when they were picked up. The boys seemed a little wary of putting on my homemade lip gloss made from vasaline and kool-aid but thought it was funny to kiss paper. They were so cute when they gave them to their moms though! Since it wouldn't be a surprise for me Nathan gave his to Chris after he got home from work- so cute!
They then colored and read their "itsy bitsy k books"
Then we made our "white trash/it's too late to go to the store and get real materials to make a kite" kites! This was the big hit of the day. They loved flying their kites around!
After a bit of freeze dance the boys went home...and Nathan was so sad his friends were gone he proceeded to talk about it the rest of the day.
