At a year Abby:

*is large- here's her stats from the doctor earlier this week
height- 31 1/4 in >95%
weight- 25 lbs 2 oz >95%
head-18 1/2 in 95%
Thankfully she's really proportional so even though she's extra large she's not considered obese :)

*has motor skills that astound us. She is a definitely a climber, she can get up onto any chair (which is a little scary now that she can move our kitchen chairs over to the counter and climb up).  Yesterday at the park I took my eyes off her for a less than a minute and she had climbed to the top of a very tall slide...yikes! We love walking into the living room and seeing her just relaxing on the couch- it's so cute.

*doesn't speak many words (yet--we're working on this) she is quite content to talk in grunts, screams, and squeals.  She does say dada, mama, bye bye, hi, and no with great consistency.

*she loves to fold her arms when we pray.  It is adorable to watch her holding her own hands.  She says "mee" (amen) every once in a while.

*she still loves food- take a look back at those stats again if you doubt :) She will eat almost anything- but she's definitely a carnivore- she loves meat!

*has a total of 6 teeth making their appearance- 2 on bottom and 4 on top.

*has long enough hair to wear a small pony tail on top of her head...one Sunday I even put her hair in pig tails- they were small but cute!

*likes to play with any toy that Nathan has.  Poor kid spends a lot of his day running away from Abby.

*Likes to read books but only by herself so she can control the pace (she prefers super fast and crazy flipping back and forth between pages).  She does not like when I actually try to read the words or
point out pictures...I think she feels like I'm stifling her independence.

*Loves to wave and say hi and bye to anyone.  She gets the cutest shy smile when she realizes people are waving back. *gets lonely when Nathan is gone or when she wakes up from her nap before him.  If he's still sleeping and I don't stop her quickly enough she runs over to his door and bangs on the door.  When he goes to preschool she gets the biggest smile when I tell her we're going to go get Nathan. I love that they're friends!

*loves shoes.  She loves to hold shoes and try to put them on.  When I start packing up the diaper bag before we go somewhere she usually has already brought me her shoes before I'm done.

And thus concludes all the posts about Abby's birthday...that is until her birthday party next week!
