He's a Baller

Nathan had a fun(ish) time playing basketball last season.  He definitely loves playing- but gets frustrated when he doesn't have the ball, and gets even more frustrated when he can't shoot because the other kids are playing defense.  He was one of the youngest kids in his division, and he's already shorter for his age so many of the kids towered over him.  He ended up having a positive experience but he was ready to be done.

After the last game they had a little awards ceremony for the kids.  Chris was one of the coaches and was thankfully able to tone down the other coach's grand plans for a team lunch/get together into just meeting in the hallway after the game.  He couldn't, however, stop the coach from buying trophies for the kids (the YMCA was giving out medals), so the kids got a medal and a trophy- wahoo. Nathan was mostly interested in what was for snack.

But all pessimism aside it was cute- Nathan had fun and enjoyed the praise.
He really is a great ball player as long as you give him space- he learned a lot and had fun meeting new friends.
 awesome defense
about to make his move
 he scored!

And Chris has vowed to never again coach 4-6 year olds anything.
