ready to go!
Cinderella induced coma
You know that story about man who goes on a cruise and packs all his own food, thinking he's saving money? That's kind of what we felt like. I planned ahead and packed all the food for breakfast, lunches, snacks, and bottles (yes, Elise is still drinking from a bottle...darn stubborn child) and then tried to find cheap options for dinner.
Despite being a "family resort" I still felt so out of place. It seems a family resort is for families with one small child (who bring the grandparents or nanny along to help) or families with 2 children both over the age of 8. I felt like a circus side show during the day- it's not so bad here at home because we hang out with families just like us, but at this place it was obvious how different we were!
Anyway- the hotel was awesome. The kids were in awe of all the cool things.
getting their boots shined
I loved taking walks in the morning with them and exploring the grounds- finding the fire pit and the "biggest rocks over", exploring the restaurant gardens, playing with roly pollies, attempting to climb in the fountains...it was fun.
I was so sad my camera fogged up- this was just so precious seeing them all hold hands!
I love these three!
they loved this area of rocks- we spent way too much time here

after lunch our first day- I think we wore her out!

our last night we stayed as late as possible at the pool and then splurged on dinner at the hotel sports bar/restaurant. Nathan was in heaven watching football on the huge screens during dinner :)

The pools were amazing. And yes- I mean pools. The children's pool was awesome and where we were usually found. The kids loved the slides and fountains. Elise loved the zero entry and that she could be more independent. We also found that she loves water slides.
We also spent a lot of time on the lazy river- now that was when I looked my worst! Imagine 1 adult and 3 small kids on the river- just getting everyone into and inner tube without the others floating away was no small feat, but it was fun once I figured out the logistics.
They also loved going down the bigger water slide with me and Chris- I thought they might be scared or nervous but they loved it!
We were glad we could spend more time with Chris- he was back with us by 4 so we had so much time together! We're so grateful that Chris's work paid for almost everything so he could go and that is was close enough we could meet up with him!
On our way home I stopped by my good friend and old roommate Karen's house and got to meet her two sweet girls. Can't believe it's been almost 6 years since we were roommates! Wish I'd gotten a picture. Then we met up with Chris is Lockhart, TX for some great BBQ and then went home. It was a great vacation!
...and my favorite picture from the entire trip---just couldn't leave this one out :)

Such a fun little trip. I just had to comment on the lazy river:) We just moved, but when we were in Vienna, we didn't have a pool so we would get summer membership to a kiddie waterpark type thing here in Reston. Anyway, they have the same types of things as your resort did, and the lazy river was truly the worst, I'm impressed you figured it out, cause I don't know if I ever did. Every time the boys insisted on going there, I would dread it:)
Looks like such a fun trip! I love that there is an armadillo in the pool, so Texas! :) I love that you all got to get away together! :)
