29 weeks and some other random thoughts

Today I am 29 weeks; I can't believe that we have just over 10 more weeks to go! I'm feeling good, and finally going back to the gym.  I'm gaining a lot of weight (which I blame on not going to the gym for a month, but let's be honest, it was a combination of no gym and being at my parent's house and having dessert every night for 4 weeks straight...).  This week I take the glucose test and I'm now on the "go to the doctor every two weeks" schedule...I'm so glad we found out how not to pay for parking! I'm starting to get a little panicky about having two kids...we're definitely not ready- not just mentally...the bedroom Nathan and the baby will be sharing is a disaster- I really need to organize and go through everything we have for this little girl.
Here's a lovely picture of my today.  I forgot to take one earlier in the day so here's a tired, dark, self-timer shot...enjoy.

on a different note, here are some random things I've been thinking about today...

-Is it weird that I bribe my child to eat dinner by offering him frozen peas? He loves them and they're healthy....whatever works right?
-I already don't like Chris's ER rotation (and last week was the best week we'll have...lame).  I'm not looking forward to 8 straight days of Chris working. I'm not looking forward to going to church alone till Christmas break.
-I never want to be a single mother...I don't know how they stay sane. On that same vein...if Nathan doesn't start sleeping past 6 am I will go insane, with or without Chris.
-Why is Mannheim Steamroller popular Christmas music? I love it, Chris loves it, Nathan thinks it's the best music ever to dance to...but when you think about it, it's pretty weird.
-Our neighbors cigarette smoke always takes me back to living in Pakistan.  Amazing how smells stick with you after so many years.
-I love How the Grinch Stole Christmas;.  Nathan and I curled up on the couch and watched it today.  He loved it...that made me happy.
-How is it in Houston that you can need to use the heater and the air conditioner within a few hours of each other?
-If we only get Nathan one or two gifts this year he won't be traumatized right? That doesn't make us bad parents does it?
-Why is it that the day we take family pictures it was bitter cold and rainy? And Nathan got hardly any sleep so he pretty much refused to smile the whole time.
-I can't believe I'm making a whole Thanksgiving dinner on Tuesday...let's just say that Chris was really disappointed in the lack of leftovers and I feel bad that he's working all the time...so we're having Thanksgiving again (and I totally messed up my apple pie last week..note to self- do not cook while distracted- you will forget a vital ingredient and you will have to throw your pie away).
-I love Christmas.  We picked out our Christmas Tree Friday morning and we'll decorate it tomorrow night before Chris goes to work.  I know it's more economical to get a fake tree, but the smell in our living room is amazing.

Here's some adorable pictures from Nathan's bath tonight- bubble baths are so much fun.

he's definitely my favorite kid ever :)

Nathan is getting so big, and your new little one will be here soon! For what it's worth, we're only getting Caitlin 3 things for Christmas. Gifts aren't what is important, and she will be plenty spoiled by the grandparents.

Wait until you have four or five kidlets - but you will manage somehow. I now look at parents with four or five kids in tow and wonder how in the world we ever survived that time in our lives. I guess we must have had more energy in our 20's and 30's...

Thank you for updating your blog. We check all our kidlet's blogs a couple of times a week to get our kid and grandkid fix. It's a poor substitute for the real thing but it's something we look forward to seeing.

Speaking of gifts - what does Nathan need or want? We are doing the austerity plan for our children but want to spend what's needed on grandchildren.

Dad/Grandpa Hawks

I'm so glad you said you weren't getting Nathan much this year. I was feeling like a bad parent! We figure we might as well get away with it while she still doesn't get the whole present thing:)

PS We're glad to have you back!
