On the real Thanksgiving day we started it off by sending Chris off to play football- Nathan was so upset he couldn't go...the poor kid just loves football. While he was gone I made a pumpkin pie- it was perfect. I then made an apple pie (my only consolation with this failure of a pie was that it looked perfect...). After Chris came home we hung out, made stuffing, and headed with our amazing pumpkin pie, dismal apple pie, stuffing, and delicious cranberry sauce over to our friend's house for dinner.
Nathan had a great time hanging out with his little friend Dax...and his new best friend- the rocking horse
isn't he such a stud!
We are so grateful for all our friends we were able to share Thanksgiving with; they were so generous to include us last minute when we found out that Chris had the day off!Chris was able to get Friday off of work too, so after "sleeping in" (with Nathan that's around 6:00!) we lounged around then set out to do some Black Friday Shopping at Walmart (we ended up getting some good deals...but we were mostly braving the crowds because we were almost out of toothpaste and deodorant!) We then hit up Carters and Best Buy before getting our Christmas Tree! It was fun to go and walk around and pick out our tree together. Chris had to go back to work Saturday and Sunday, but we were so grateful that we were able to spend two whole days together!
Our second round of Thanksgiving occurred today. Last night we decorated the tree (which stays on whenever Nathan is awake- he gets quite upset when the lights aren't on) and I redeemed myself and made an excellent apple pie. This morning I had to go to the doctor (I took the nasty glucose test) and then came home and started cooking! I made the most delicious sweet potatoes...thank you to the Pioneer Woman for an amazing recipe. I got the turkey in the oven, mashed the potatoes, made the rolls, stuffing, cranberry, gravy, and green beans. What a great meal! We enjoyed our wonderful dinner together and then quickly ran off- I dropped Nathan off at our friend's house and went to Mutual and Chris went to work (I hate night shifts!). I'm so glad we could spend time together and enjoy being a family. Nathan was so funny during dinner- it was hard to stop laughing at his adorableness.
I could go on and list all the things I'm grateful for, but the list is very, very long- especially this year- I'll just say that we are one extremely blessed family!
