Today we had an appointment with an allergist. After discussing the latest developments/lack of developments we decided to do a skin prick test and see what the results were. Poor Nathan was subjected to one more not-so-fun test but, like always, he was a trooper and did really well while his back was scratched up 8 times. They tested for allergies to milk, wheat, eggs, shellfish, shrimp, and soy.
Guess what was the only thing to come back positive for an allergic reaction?
EGGS
Crazy huh?
The thing is he can still be allergic to milk and other things (the doctor was suspecting it to be wheat). It turns out there are two types of allergic reactions, the skin prick tests for immediate b-cell allergic reactions, and in a few weeks we're doing another test called the patch test that will tell us if there are any delayed t-cell allergic reactions ...I sound so smart with my medical knowledge :)
We're excited that we are learning more about what is going on with our little guy and what we can do to make him better. I loved what our doctor said today...our goal is to make him completely symptom free...hopefully by the beginning of next year he will be!
