A Memorable Night

Our anniversary this year was smack dab on Thanksgiving, so we celebrated a few days later in style.  We used a restaurant.com gift card to go to an Italian restaurant that seem (keyword seemed) really nice online.  (Disclosure- when you get a restaurant.com gift card you go online and buy a gift card to a specific restaurant.  Once you use buy the specific restaurant gift car you have to use it there or the money is gone...)
We got all dressed up and headed out, quickly realizing that we are heading to a "sketchy" area of town.  The restaurant was in a strip mall, there were bars on the doors and windows with neon light all over.  I kept asking Chris if it was safe, and he kept asking me if I wanted to leave. I said no (meaning heck-yes-get-me-out-of-here-and-go-somewhere-else-but-I-want-you-to-make-that-decision) so we stayed and, in Chris's words, made some memories.
Needless to say, it was empty and the food was not good.  It looked like the inside of a cheap Chinese buffet.  We kept laughing it was so bad.  They brought out some toasted garlic bread (I use the word toasted very lightly because it was slightly crunchy but drowning in oil).
When you use a restaurant.com gift card there are a lot of rules attached- we had a minimum we had to spend so we ordered an appetizer.  The only one we thought they couldn't mess up was the mozzarella sticks.  Turns out they were bad too- how do you mess those up? Our food came out and wasn't good either.  Chris ordered a lemon/artichoke/mushroom saucy chicken dish and the menu said it came with a side of pasta.  On his plate was a side of angel hair pasta with canned marinara sauce on it.  gross.
Anyways, we got out of there and walked out.  I was very glad and relieved to see our car still in the parking lot.  As I shut the door I saw a man walking towards us.  I screamed and crouched down- I could have sworn he was carrying a shotgun...turns out he was holding a large umbrella just like a shot gun.
He walked into the restaurant.
To compensate for our lack of class at dinner we went the the Galleria (the mall) and walked around all the fancy stores.  We pretended we belonged in places like Dolce and Gabbana, Armani, Coach, and Burberry then finished off the night with massages from the chairs at Brookstone.

It was definitely a night to remember-
and Chris totally owes me next year!

Happy Anniversary Honey- I love you!
