On Wednesday we took the kids and headed down to BYU- it was fun to be back and take the kids around. Nathan was most excited to see anything sports related, but we stopped at a few other places too.
The first order of business in Provo was to stop by Kneaders- oh how we've missed their french toast! Unfortunately the kids loved it too and it's never fun to share.
When we got to BYU we stopped by the Library and then the Science Building and let the kids try some of their fun little science experiments.
They chased a duck around campus
Then we headed to the Smith Field House and the kids ran races around the track
and Nathan practiced his dunking skills
unfortunately the walk back up the hill was not as easy as we remembered it being when we were students- apparently an old double stroller loaded down with 2 large kids and a bunch of junk while carrying a 9 month old baby in a carrier made things harder then it used to be...or else the 4 years we've spent at sea level has made it so it was a wee bit harder to breathe in the higher mountain air :)
We then walked to the Book Store and got the kids some BYU stuff- a pencil and mini basketball for each and a new shirt for Abby. It was cute when she picked it out. She walked up to the wall of kids shirts and she just starred for a minute then shouted "PINK!" She quickly chose a pink BYU shirt and she loves it.
We then headed over to the Creamery and met up with my friend Lisa and her kids Jacob and Brooke. They moved back from Houston to Utah and we didn't say goodbye back home to force us to see each other again- it was quite nice prolonging it- it never felt like it was the final time we'd see them!
The kids had fun seeing each other again- they are such great friends!
Lisa and I spent way too long talking and letting Chris watch the kids. It was a great way to finally say goodbye.
After we got the kids home Chris and I headed out again- me to my Mother's Day Massage and Chris with his brother to Tucanos, a Brazilian restaurant they all used to work at.
After nap time Chris went with Nathan, Abby, and a bunch of family members to the new Provo Rec Center pool. They had a ton of fun!
That night Chris's mission friend and former roommate Chris stopped by for dinner with one of his little girls Lucy, unfortunately his wife Whitney stayed home with their other daughter who was sick, so we were sad we couldn't see them both. We all lived in the ward where so many of us met and got married- we had such a great group of friends who all married each other--it was perfect!
Finally on Thursday we had to go home. We still looked like a circus walking through the airport with our 3 kids, 3 suitcases, 3 car seats, and 4 carry-ons. Our only regret in Provo was not stopping by Cafe Rio, so thankfully they had one in the airport and Chris quickly grabbed some food before we hopped on the plane- best lunch on a plane I've ever had.
The kids did great the first plane ride and slept the entire second leg. And I do believe that at one point all 5 of us were asleep at the same time- we basically rock at flying.
It was good be home and get back into the swing of this but it was definitely a great trip!
