We have a great time getting out there, albeit a 3 hour layover in Denver was not preferred, as well as 2 of our car seats not making it on our airplane (thankfully they arrived on another pretty quickly). Our kids did awesome though- they really are great fliers, even with Elise being diagnosed with 2 massive ear infections the day before and Abby would two days later (more on that later...let's just say we slept even less than that on Sunday night).
We arrived in the late evening so their wasn't much time before the kids had to go to bed, but in my children's true mother's day form we had an awful night of sleep with Elise. We had all the kids in one room but finally moved Elise into ours. So at least the other two would get some sleep even if we didn't- I think I got 3 hours of sleep and Chris got 4..why stuff like this always happens on mother's day I don't know. With all my selfishness I always wish that Father's Day would be bad like Mother's Days are in our family, but when it's time to celebrate Chris our kids have been perfect angels every year. Not fair- see here for an example of a former mother's day.
Anyways...
We were treated to a wonderful breakfast- thanks Amy!
Were able to hold Sacrament Meeting as a family in the lodge.
The kids performed a special Mother's Day song- it was adorable.
And then got to relax the rest of the day and enjoy being with family and not being in Houston.
Aspen Grove was a fun place to be and there were still so many fun things to do even though we were there in the off season (which meant we pretty much had the place to ourselves!)
That night my sisters Elizabeth and Rachel and Rachel's husband Shaun were able to join us for dinner and dessert to celebrate Mother's day and Emily's (Chris's sister) birthday- it was so great to be able to see them too on this trip.
It was really a good day, it was so nice to spend it with so many family members and celebrate all the wonderful mothers, sisters, grandmothers, and aunts in our lives and the lives of our children.

Get this--we went to Aspen Grove in 2011 with Tommy's family, then last year in 2012 my dad's side of the family went and I went with them, and then this year my mom's side of the family is going and we're all going. Three years in a row! We're excited to try it out with a baby this time.
