Rain can't stop us

I'm an awful mom starting around 4:30 or 5:00.  I've lost most of my patience to handle my kids and I'm just plain mean.  In order to combat my awfulness I make dinner and bring it to our neighborhood pool and we swim, eat dinner, and hang out there while we wait for Chris to come home.

Last week I thought the kids were finally getting better from all the sickness that's been going around (I felt like we'd been stuck at home for weeks between all of them being sick) so we headed to the pool.  The kids jumped in and within 20 seconds we heard thunder.  I pretended like I didn't hear it and just let the kids keep swimming, but then there was more, and more, and more and the life guard calmly asked me to get the kids out.  So out they came.  A whole minute of swim time and we were going to have to go home.  But it was only 5:00! Chris wouldn't be home for a long time...the thunder was ruining my plans! The kids were none to happy we had to leave.
So instead of playing at the pool I let them play in the rain (cause playing in the rain with lightening is super responsible)

and mud

and then we had a movie night.  They thought Jungle Book was awesome.

The kids thought it was just as cool as going to the pool and I maintained my sanity for one more night. Success!

I'm so glad you said that you have a hard time in the evenings! Just the other day after kevin came home from work he said "wow" after witnessing Tyson try to get my attention by saying mommy a thousand times over and over and getting louder and more shrill every second. And I said now you know why I'm always in such a bad mood by the end of the day. SometimesI feel like such an awful mom for losing my patience so easily with my boys. It's nice to know it happens to other moms.
