The Fourth

We started off our day with a breakfast at our church building- the kids could have really cared less about eating and were mostly excited they got to play with their friends so early in the morning :)

We then headed over to the Bellaire Parade.  On our way we stopped by the fire station and checked out some of the equipment.

We sat really close to the petting zoo, which was great because they just watched and stuck their hands inside the fence and never asked to inside!

It is such cute, homey parade.  The kids loved the old cars, fire trucks, motorcycles, police cars, and candy.  I love it.

It was hot, but definitely not as hot as last year- not being almost 9 months pregnant was so nice!

We had some friends over for a little BBQ and let the kids run around in the pool and sprinkler while the parents stayed inside- it was awesome and I should have gotten at least one picture...oh well.

Our set up was perfect for the fireworks.  Last year we waited hours for the show to start at Miller Outdoor Theater and eventually left because our kids couldn't take waiting (seriously, at 10:30 we decided it was just crazy). This year we decided to head down to Pearland because their fireworks started at 9:00 sharp- perfect for our group.  We had plans to meet up with our friends at a park but with all the road closures we couldn't find our way there.  We finally thought we figured it out when we came across this perfect "hill" (there are no real hills in Houston) and a few cars were parked their.  It was right next to the road to get out of town and ended up being perfect.  Our friends found us and a few minutes later the fireworks started! I think we found the perfect spot!

It held their attention for a little while but then Abby grew bored.  Oh well.  I love the fireworks- last year was depressing without them so it was wonderful.
Happy Fourth of July!
