Most days we have an hour to kill after Nathan wakes up but before Abby wakes up.
So yesterday I got creative (and a bit stupid...this heat must be getting to me) and decided to let Nathan play in water.
Going through your mind right now might be, "Sarah, there's nothing stupid about letting your child play in water on a hot summer day." But just in case you forgot, we live on the 2nd floor of an apartment complex- no yard, no balcony, dog poo filled grassy areas, and lots and lots of carpet.
Nathan however had a blast. It entertained him for a long time. After Abby woke up and ate she joined in the action. I was so proud of myself for coming up with a great activity and left them to their own devices- I went and de-boned a chicken (yes, I feel like I belong on the Food Network when I do things like de-bone a chicken, make a roux, spend more than 30 minutes making dinner., or let's be honest- when I know what we're having 30 minutes before dinner. . . )
Big mistake.

So after I got cleaned up I helped Abby who ended up dumping about 3 inches worth of water into the bumbo- and me letting her sit in it caused a nice big wet diaper that Nahtan got a kick out of.
So once agian I was stupid and let Abby play on the ground while Nathan continued to play without Abby and I went back to conquer the chicken. Unfortunately a few minutes later he leaned over a big bowl of water and it spilled, all over him, the table, onto the chair, onto the floor, as well as on Abby's head.
Oh well- at least it's just water. I may however need to be a better mom and supervise my kids. . .
At least they both had fun!

She is getting so big!!!
Seems like messes make the best fun! Look at them both scrunch up their noses- such cuties
Haha! I love this! I'm so glad things like this don't only happen to me. We actually just bought a rubber maid underbed bin and a bag of sand and made Owen a sand box for our tiny balcony, haha, it is a mess but what are you going to do living in an apartment with a 2 and a half year old.
