As some of you know I was scheduled to be induced today at 6:00 am...as in right now. Obviously that's not happening. I have to call back in 2 hours and find out if there is space. But since I'm already a horrible sleeper there is no way I can go back to bed now, so I'm up, showered, dressed, eaten breakfast (cause I'm starving! I don't care what the doctors say about not eating before I come in!), and have nothing to do because it's so early I decided to go through the pictures on our camera and do one last blog post to be fully caught up before this little girl makes her appearance...or doesn't...
So here's what we've been up to this week-
On Monday I went to the doctor- 3 cm dilated, 90 % effaced...bring on the baby! I picked up my Mom from the airport, and Chris's good friend Tommy (mission companion, college roommates, we were all in the same ward before we got married...) was passing through town and we had dinner at Chuy's then hung out with him for a while. It was great to see him and catch up. We also set up today as our induction date that night- wahoo! About an hour later Abby starts crying, I go in, and she can't breathe- terrifying! I freak out, things are crazy..long story short Abby got croup. Super scary and contagious. Delightful.
On Tuesday I bring Abby to the doctor to see what we can do for her- because there's nothing I'd love more than to bring home a brand new baby to a diseased, contagious sister. He tells me that we should move our induction date back or not have Abby come to the hospital at all while I'm there...but he says she should not be contagious at all by Thursday (she has spasmodic croup which is apparently a shorter duration than regular croup). I decide that I won't go 2 days without seeing Abby nor do I want to be pregnant longer. So the induction date stays!
During this time my Mom took Nathan swimming for playgroup and he had a blast- much more fun than sitting at the doctors office!
Wednesday was fun- Abby was super grouchy almost the whole day so I didn't know what to do with her. We had to get out of the house so we headed to the mall play place, first stopping at the Disney store- Nathan and Abby were in heaven. Nathan attempted to purchase every toy he saw, in particular anything involving Lightening McQueen. After nap time my visiting teachers came over and their children provided mine with a much needed distraction from their grouchiness. We met up with Chris for a delicious BBQ dinner, if Abby hadn't cried almost the entire time it would have been great...
After getting the kids to bed I went and played volleyball with some friends hoping some jumping and spiking would induce labor...it obviously didn't work. So I came home, went on a walk with Chris (didn't work either), starting packing my hospital bag (no, I've never had a bag packed weeks in advance. In fact I've never packed my bag till I was about to leave for the hospital in labor so this was being really prepared for me!) and went to bed.
And now we wait!
but in the mean time here are some cute pictures!
*the kids LOVE playing on my mom's iPad! Nathan keeps asking to play with Grandma's games, and Abby gets so jealous when she can't hold it. We have to regulate the amount of time they spend on that thing or else it would be never ending.
*Posing (and dancing) outside the BBQ restaurant with the giant armadillo.
