The 2nd day my mom was here we headed out to Brazos Bend State Park- home of the alligators!
We went to the lake to look for some alligators. But there was no way we could pass a playground and not play, so that was our first stop.
After the kids played we went down to the lake, we found out later that it is too hot right now to see alligators and they usually stay in the water far away, but apparently the alligators knew my mom was here and had never seen a wild alligator before and 2 of them swam around the dock!
We then headed out on a nature walk around another lake. At the beginning of the walk there was a board telling kids to use their senses as
they walked around the lake, so we did and the kids had a blast using
their eyes and ears...it was adorable. The loved looking for tracks and
animals, and following the signs to stay on the path.
After our walk we went to the nature center, saw some cool displays, held a baby alligator, and checked out the snakes. The kids loved it except for the taxidermied raccoon which even I thought was a bit creepy.
We finished off our trip back at the playground for lunch.
Then we were literally sweating to death so we hopped back in the car and headed home. Even though it was so dang hot and humid we definitely still had fun!
