The real reason my Mom came down to Texas was to come with us to my cousin Erin's wedding. She grew up all over the world but was lucky enough to find a guy from Texas and they chose to get married here- and since San Antonio isn't too far away within about 5 minutes of finding out the wedding was at the San Antonio Temple I had plans to go and my mom booked a flight- it was perfect!
We arrived at the Temple and said good bye to the kids- just in case things weren't perfect enough being able to be with family I haven't seen in way too many years...one of my friends (Nathan's primary teacher) happened to be in San Antonio that weekend staying with her friends who lived really close to the temple...so she volunteered to take our kids during the sealing! It was awesome. They still got to come to the temple with us and meet family and all 3 of us could go to the sealing...perfection.
The sealing was, as always, wonderful. It has been so long since we've attended a wedding in the Temple- it's always an amazing experience to remember the blessing of being sealed together.
After the wedding and pictures we headed back to get the kids some naps (after a quick Costco stop to buy some more formula for Elise...apparently my estimating skills or down right awful- I totally thought that was left in the container would be more than enough to get us through the weekend...)
Chris's cousin Maranna was so nice to babysit our kids that night while Chris, my mom, and I went to the reception. It didn't start till later and was almost an hour away from her house (almost to Austin) so I really didn't want to keep the kids out that late. She totally rocked taking care of 6 kids all by herself that night!
The reception was lovely- it was kind of in the middle of no where at a beautiful barn type place, it was great. Was was hilarious was listening to everyone complain about the humidity (a lot of non Texans we there) all while Chris and I were relishing how dry it felt! Only 49% humidity that night felt so incredibly wonderful! It was a great chance to talk to family, catch up, and watch my Uncle James rock everyone on the dance floor :)
We were so glad we could make it to see Erin and Ben get married- When we were younger my Dad's brother and sister lived close to us, and they each had girls the sandwiched right in between my 2 younger sisters, and it's so crazy to think of the "little girls" going on missions, getting married, and growing up into amazing women!
Unfortunately our trip was short- we packed up the next morning, went to a sacrament meeting, then headed home. We're excited that we get to go out again in just a few months!
