Because sitting around relaxing is apparently not something we do we headed off for another adventure-Friday morning we packed up the car and went to San Antonio!
On the way we stopped at one of our favorite little Texas towns- Lockhart- the BBQ Capital of Texas. Basically it's just a small town with 4 famous BBQ Restaurants in it. Last time we were there we tried Black's BBQ so this time we hit up Chisholm Trail BBQ and it was delicious.
We then got back on the road and made it to San Antonio. The first stop was the Alamo, always smaller in real life then you think it should be, but cool none the less.
The kids were mostly fascinated by the cannons, koi fish in a pond, and a whole bunch of soldiers (Air Force?) who were there with their families.
After the Alamo we were dying of heat exhaustion we hit up an indoor ice cream shop. Abby chose pink ice cream (no surprise, doesn't matter what flavor it is as long as it's pink) and Nathan chose a flavor called "Krazy Kolors", basically just an intensely rainbowed colored vanilla ice cream. I don't know how much food coloring was in that ice cream but we were still seeing the effects of that ice cream days later....if you know what I mean...
We then walked around the River Walk- I love that it's in the middle of the city- such a cool idea. I wanted to go on one of the boat rides, and so did the kids, but it's really more of sight seeing tour and I was afraid the kids would be bored, making it not fun for everyone, so we didn't go this time...next time we'll leave the kids at home and go at night when it's all lit up! We finished up our adventure with some pizza and then headed to Chris's cousins house to spend the night. It was a long but fun day!
