The Zoo, the Car, and the Date

Yesterday was eventful...
For Preschool we went to the zoo! Nathan and Abby love the zoo so this field trip was perfect for them.  We did our usual checking out of all the animals...

and then we headed to the new splash pad. Fully fenced and super clean--it was so nice!

Then we tried to leave....in order to get to the zoo our neighbor had to jump start our car, but I thought it would be okay (should have know having to jump it twice in one week is NOT a good sign), figures it would completely die as we are trying to go home after a full morning at the zoo, sitting in the parking lot, very  ready to go home, after all our friends had already left.

A kind family saw my distress tried to jump it again, but it just wouldn't work- the battery was that dead.  Thankfully Chris was in between patients and answered his phone and was able to sign up for AAA and get someone out there to help us.  He also works pretty close, and since we didn't know what was going to happen (would they be able to jump it? Would it have to be towed?) He got on the shuttle, got to our other car, and drove over.  He saved me from a complete melt down.

I took Elise into the car for some air conditioning- it was sooo hot by now!- and he took the other kids to see the ducks while we waited for the AAA guy. He then bought me some lunch (packed the kids a lunch, just not myself) and got the kids a milk shake.  Best over priced food we've ever bought.  It saved us from going crazy!

Then the AAA guy came, used his special machine to jump start our car, and ran some tests on the battery.  Turns our the battery was shot.  Thankfully they keep some overpriced batteries in their truck that we could buy.  So we handed him the credit card and boom- new battery.  We were on our way...only 2 1/2 hours later!!!We got our poor kids in their seats and almost immediately....
Thankfully Elise spent the whole ordeal like this...asleep the whole 2 1/2 hours! I love this girl!

We came home, the kids slept for a little bit, and my visiting teachers (who were supposed to come over earlier) came, thankfully they were flexible. Then I hurried and got the kids some dinner (left of mac and cheese- delicious) and got ready for...

Our date!!! As in our first date since Elise was born without her! We've gone out a few times with her, but this was my first time leaving her for more than an hour or two. Last night we saw our first of our season tickets to the touring Broadway Shows and saw Beauty and the Beast! It was great- arguably my favorite Disney movie and the show did not disappoint! To top it off all the kids did really well while we were gone- I love babysitters! It was a much needed break after the craziness earlier in the day.
Hopefully is today not as eventful!

That is crazy! Car problems are no fun at all. That's exciting that you were able to see Beauty and the Beast! My friend Darick is playing the Beast on the tour and hopefully you saw him - he's incredible. Date nights are the best!
