Nathan was so indecisive about the type of birthday party he wanted this year- dinosaurs, Cars (the movie), monsters, race car, monster trucks...until he came up with the idea of a BYU Football Party. Once that idea popped into his head there was no turning back!
We decided to make this a "friends only" party- no parents allowed! I imagined it being a pretty small party, but after his preschool and a few nursery friends it was already up to 10 kids coming! It was a bit crazy having that many kids but I think they loved having a special kids-only night. Nathan's face when he woke up from his nap to see the house decorated was priceless- I'm so glad he thought it was awesome!
They spent most of the time jumping on the trampoline- too bad it was already nice and humid...the kids got sooo incredibly sweaty!
They practiced kicking (or throwing) field goals with Chris,
And had races.
Dinner was pretty darn fancy- apples, carrots, blue football jello jigglers, football juice boxes, and football pizza. We figured the kids were hardly going to eat anything anyways so we'd keep it simple (do other people's kids eat much when so many friends are around? Cause ours don't)
They had fun sitting on the "football field" and watching some BYU vs Utah football highlights. They all really enjoyed it- we even got all the kids to cheer "Go BYU" whenever they scored a touchdown :)
We played "pin the football in the field goal"
Then opened presents and had cake!
It was a labor of love but Nathan thought it was awesome- so it was worth it. Nathan had been oohing and awing all day about it (and sneaking a couples fingers worth of frosting!) but I surprised him by making the cake blue too which was fun to see their reaction when we cut into it.
Nathan and Abby have been so excited for the party, it was so fun to see all the kids enjoy it.
All the kids-even Nathan and Abby- got thank you bags (because I knew it would just be tragic if they didn't have one...oh the hard life of a child)- and thankfully Target had footballs in the dollar section this week- awesome!
Elise did amazing- she's so good sometimes at going with the flow. We love her.
And so does Nathan- he is a great big brother and just a wonderful kid. We are so proud of our *almost* 4 year old!
