For Christmas this year we headed to Arizona to spend the holidays with Chris's family. We stayed with his brother Dave, his wife Jessica, and their little boy Emmett and the rest of the family stayed at a rental house a few minutes away.
On Christmas Eve we were lucky to have dinner with my Grandpa, his wife, my Uncle, Aunt, and 6 cousins, plus spouses and kids...it was a big group!. They were so nice to let us come and crash their dinner on short notice- it turns out they only live a mile and a half from Chris's brother's house...awesome! We had fun spending the evening with the Schmidts. Even though it had been a year since Nathan had seen my grandpa he wasn't scared at all and started calling him grandpa right away.
On Christmas morning we were able to see Emmett open up all of his presents. Lucky for Emmett, Nathan woke up around 5:30 and "tested" out some of the presents (the basketball hoop in particular) and determined they were good. We headed over to the rental house to be with the rest of the family for breakfast and presents. Nathan enjoyed opening up the gifts. He was not a fan of his Santa hat, but was a big fan of the bubbles in the stocking and the cars (and the starburst jelly beans I slipped in there- yea for being milk, egg, rice, and soy free!).
And he looked really adorable in his Christmas pajamas- the grand kids were so cute in their matching outfits.
We spent a lot of time playing outside in the beautiful weather throwing rocks and riding the paddle boat in the canal.
That night we went to see the lights at the Mesa Temple- the lights were beautiful. Nathan loved looking for Baby Jesus and the star. We had a definitely had a fabulous Christmas!
