I think the problem stemmed from making frosting edible for Nathan...I don't think the combination of using his "butter" or "milk" made for a frosting that works for ginger bread houses.it's hard to find a good frosting recipe for these that don't have some form of milk or egg in them...oh well- we still had fun!
Here's the pictures of our "unique" creations. We'll do better next year.
Nathan's
Mine- it only stayed up with help from the supports I put around it...
Chris's- he was smart and after watching mine and Nathan's disaster he made a fortress...smarty pants
The whole family's
It was a crazy experience trying to get everything to stay up, not fall over, stick to the frosting...at first I thought I was going to lose it...but once we kept Nathan from eating the "bad" candy it turned out to be pretty fun.
Funny story...I used up 1 1/2 cups of "butter", and 3 lbs of powdered sugar trying to make this...I made the first batch with Nathan's butter, but was stupid and used regular milk. Once Chris pointed this out to me I started over...and did the exact same thing again! stupid stupid stupid. Finally on the third batch I got it right...now we are completely out of powdered sugar. Thankfully I didn't mess up the third time or there would have been no frosting...not that it worked anyways...
