Kindergarten Round-up

Nate has been way beyond excited to start kindergarten this year, but the whole process here in Houston was getting me all frustrated...you can go your neighborhood school or you can apply and magnet in to other schools all over the city.  Touring and choosing which schools to apply to was a long and tiring process, and then it's all left up to chance- you hope you get picked in the school's lottery.

Thankfully I set a 15-20 minute driving limit and would only apply to schools within that area (no matter what I would have to drive him even to our neighborhood school), it was just a matter of how far I would end up going!

Thankfully that scary day at the end of March when they emailed out the lottery placements brought great news.  Nate got into his and our top choice! It was actually the only school he had been able to go with me on a tour and he loved it there.  He also has a great friend attending so that made it even better, and to top it off, besides our neighborhood school, it's the closest magnet school we applied to- yay for easier drop off and pick ups (especially with a baby due the weekend before school starts!)

He was even more excited when he found out that he was invited to the Kindergarten Round-up; basically a morning of fun at the school :) He had too much fun and now thinks that kindergarten is all about horse rides, petting zoos, snacks, and playing outside with friends.

I couldn't be happier with the school he's going to and can't wait to see him have so much fun in Kindergarten! And I love the pose he struck when they told him to smile for a picture :)
