The Bump

So there's definitely a baby bump...
One lady I visit teach saw me on Friday and told me I didn't look pregnant at all- which was so sweet and kind of her to say- please keep the compliments coming :)
Here I am at 19 weeks:

and for comparison here I am around 19 weeks with Abby:

and just over 20 weeks with Nathan:

As we kept this a secret for a while we have had a bunch of people ask us the same questions...so here's the answers

Q: Are you crazy?
A: Yes. We will have 3 kids 3 years old and younger. Nathan will be almost 3 1/2, Abby will be 18 months (exactly- she goes into nursery the day before the original due date).  We hopefully have one blessed Sunday of being kid free for 2 hours.

Q: How old are you again?
A:I turn 26 a couple of weeks before this baby comes, Chris will be 27.  Crazy crazy crazy!

Q:When is your due date?
A: Good question...long answer- we started off with a due date of August 20th, but after an ultrasound at 12 weeks she was measuring small (which is definitely not a Hawks/Bishop baby trait!). He said the due date was more likely the 27th (great...add another week of hot, humid, horrible Houston summer), but at our last ultrasound our little lady was measuring big again, so probably we're looking at sometime between the 20th and 27th? ...so I'm either 19 weeks or 20, or just somewhere in between.

Q:What's her name?
A: We don't have a name- so no need to ask. I spent one day looking at the top 1000 (or some ridiculously high number) baby names and determined they were all horrible, so we'll figure it out later. Nathan calls her baby Birkin- no idea where that name came from but it's stuck around for almost 14 weeks now, but don't worry, we're pretty positive that's not it.

Q: How have you been feeling?
A: Things were rough for a while.  I wasn't throwing up all the time like the previous 2 pregnancies but definitely super nauseous all the time, especially if I didn't eat every hour. The nausea only comes around occasionally now.  I have most of my energy back but I am already struggling the sleep department as usual.  Getting more than a few hours of sleep in a row is a challenge.

Q:How are Nathan and Abby doing- do they understand?
A:Nathan does and is super sweet.  I tell him when the baby is making me sick and he gets worried.  Sometimes he asks if he has a baby in his tummy too which is adorable.  He give the baby kisses randomly and is great. Abby has no idea, could care less, and continues to use my stomach as a trampoline.

Q:Where will you deliver?
A: Good question again.  We don't know- our insurance covers us really well at one hospital but only my doctor and his partner have privileges there.  The other 3 doctors in their call rotation don't, so hopefully I go into labor on a Monday, Tuesday, or the week/weekend my doctor or his partner are on call.  If not then we might induce early to guarantee we deliver at Methodist (which I'm not too keen on induction- my body does labor pretty well...just a few hours of contractions, a couple pushes and boom- baby is here). Or we risk it and possible deliver at the hospital where Abby was born and just pay more money for being out of the preferred insurance network.

Q:Do you realize you're insane for having a baby in August...in Houston?
A:Yes- literally days after first arriving here in the heat of June and July of 2009 I vowed to Chris I would NEVER be pregnant here in the summer.  I am now eating my words. We're excited to spend all our summer in the pool.  We'll be at the YMCA pool everyday, or hanging out in out blow-up pool in the back yard...come join us.

and now for the one you've all been waiting for!!!
Q: Did you plan this?
A: This is one of life's special surprises.  We started to feel like we may be pregnant right before Christmas and waited till Chris's birthday to find out for sure.  Chris was happy and excited from the beginning; I was more scared.  Being home with 3 kids that young is a wee bit worrisome for me. I seem to struggle enough with just 2.  As time passed and I was able to get my head more around the fact that another baby was coming no matter how scared I was- my mental state started to get better from there.  Now I'm way excited and just a bit scared.  I hear that going from 2 to 3 kids is easier than from 1 to 2, so we'll see how that goes or if everyone is just trying to make us feel better. But yes- we are excited and love this little girl already.  I have already felt like she is supposed to be here, in our family here, right now, even though we didn't feel ready yet.  We're putting a lot of faith and trust in Heavenly Father that he knows more than we do and knows what our family, and this special girl, needs.  We feel so blessed to be able to have another child in our home.

you guys are awesome. my mom said that three of their six kids were "unplanned"--and it was the three of us who are most strongwilled and independent. (she won't ever tell us which three it is, but we've done our best to guess.) not to say that you'll end up with a stubborn child (hopefully), but just a strong one. so excited for you guys!

This Q&A made me smile. You look darling and oh so petite. You handled the transition of another child beautifully already, so this time will be no problem!
