Fourth of July

I absolutely love the Fourth of July and I've come to love our traditions here in Houston despite the heat and humidity...and being pregnant again in the summer.

We started off our morning with breakfast at our Church then headed over to the Bellaire City Parade- it's the perfect little parade and we love it.

We then headed across the street to get some cookies at the fire station.  The kids love the fire trucks and were excited to take a tour in the firehouse.
We headed to the pool where Elise decided to all of a sudden become big kid and go off the diving board without any floaties- now there is no stopping her, she can hang in their with the bigger kids for sure!

After a little bbq with some friends the weather turned kind of nasty so instead of heading down to see a big firework show we met up with some friends and set off a whole bunch of fireworks ourselves. Since everything is illegal within Houston city limits we were grateful some members of our ward live just beyond the boundaries and bought some bigger stuff.  We only had one slight mishap (one of the bigger fireworks didn't shoot up as much as it should and hit right where I had been holding Elise just about 30 seconds before- close call!)

The kids braved the rain and had sparklers (their first ever!) and even shot off their first roman candles.

Despite the rain, lightening, and the kids going to bed way too late we had a wonderful Independence Day!
